Conference Proceedings Platform for Scientific Societies

Galoá Proceedings is a conference proceedings platform for scientific societies and conference organisers: it publishes every accepted paper in an open-access repository under your society's own series, connects authors and reviewers to ORCID, and registers Crossref DOIs for editions that contract them. More than 165,000 papers are already published, from meetings held as far back as 1978. Your community stops archiving PDFs and starts building a permanent, citable record.

Why scientific societies publish with Galoá

The Proceedings Stay Your Society's Record

Commercial publishers usually bring proceedings into one of their own series, under their brand and their terms. Galoá works the other way around: the proceedings carry your conference's name, and the record built edition after edition belongs to your society.

Publishing starts upstream, at the call for papers. See how abstract management software carries a submission from peer review through to the published record, or how the full Galoá Event Manager runs the congress around it.

The series keeps your society's name

One title from edition to edition, with the series ISSN, published as one collection on proceedings.science. When an edition includes DOI registration, the papers can be deposited under your own Crossref prefix, so the record is recognizable as yours.

Every accepted paper, permanently online

Each paper gets its own permanent, citable page in an open-access repository, and the scientific committee sees readership and downloads per paper. The archive is not tied to the event website, so it does not disappear when the domain of an edition expires.

Credit that follows the researcher

Authorship connects to ORCID, and Galoá registers peer review activity on reviewers' ORCID records: more than 2,300 review activities for over 600 reviewers so far. The work your committee asked of them becomes part of their scholarly record.

Previous editions come along

Legacy PDFs from past editions are migrated into the same repository as new ones, so the whole history of the series reads as one publication. ABEP brought 50 years of proceedings into a single open-access library.

Before the call for papers opens

Six Decisions Behind Proceedings That Count

Proceedings are decided before the first submission arrives, because the call for papers is where authors and reviewers learn the rules. Our guide to conference proceedings explains each decision; here is how the platform handles it.

Schedule a call

01

What goes in

Abstracts, extended abstracts, or full papers; everything presented or a selection; posters included or not. The submission form follows the rules of your call for papers, and only accepted work moves on to publication.

02

How it is reviewed

Single-blind, double-blind, or open review: the committee sets the model. The platform assigns each paper to the best-suited reviewer, balances the load across the committee, and sends reminders, so every published paper has a complete review record behind it.

03

What the series is called

One stable title across editions and an ISSN for the series. Each edition is published under that title, so indexing services see one series instead of a scatter of unrelated volumes.

04

Whether each paper gets a DOI

Decided per edition. When it is included, every accepted paper receives a Crossref DOI, registered by Galoá as a Crossref member and Sponsor since 2015. DOIs come with the proceedings, not as a separate purchase per paper.

05

Whether it is open access

Open by default, which is what gives the papers their reach and their citation potential. If part of the collection must stay with members, you choose which editions or tracks, and everything else stays open.

06

Where it lives

On proceedings.science, next to more than 165,000 papers from other scientific events, where each paper keeps its own address for good. Your community gets a permanent home for its output instead of a folder of PDFs.

Frequently asked questions

Answers to what conference chairs and scientific committees ask before publishing with Galoá.

Where will my proceedings be indexed?

Every paper is published on proceedings.science, the open-access repository where Galoá hosts more than 165,000 papers, on its own permanent, public page. Galoá also implements OAI-PMH, the protocol repositories and indexing services use to collect metadata, so they can harvest the papers at the source. Authorship connects to ORCID, so each contribution stays attached to the researcher's permanent identity instead of a name string. If your committee contracts DOI registration, the metadata also goes to Crossref and becomes available to any citation index or research tool that consumes the Crossref API. Inclusion in Scopus or Web of Science is decided by those services: Scopus evaluates the series, while Web of Science evaluates each volume on its own. Both look for a stable series title, an ISSN, and a consistent peer review process, which is what the platform keeps in place from one edition to the next.

Can we migrate proceedings from previous editions?

Yes. Galoá's team migrates proceedings from previous editions, including legacy PDF archives, into the same citable repository as new editions. ABEP, founded in 1976, brought 50 years of its conference proceedings into a single open-access library, with Crossref metadata applied where the source records support it (see the ABEP case study).

Are proceedings published as open access?

Open access is the default: anyone can read and download the papers without a paywall, which is what gives the work your community produced its citation potential and reach. If your association needs part of the collection kept for members, the platform supports that as well, so you can hold specific editions or tracks behind membership while everything else stays open.

Do reviewers and authors get persistent academic credit for their work?

Yes. Galoá is an ORCID Institutional Member: when reviewers and authors connect their ORCID iD, the platform registers peer review activity on the reviewer's ORCID record and the published work on the author's, with nothing entered by hand by your scientific committee. More than 2,300 review activities have already reached the ORCID records of over 600 reviewers. The contribution stays attached to the researcher's permanent identity, not to a name string that can belong to anyone.

Do all proceedings papers receive a DOI?

That is up to your committee. DOI registration is contracted for the proceedings, not sold per paper: when an edition includes it, every accepted paper in that edition gets a Crossref DOI, and Galoá handles the registration and the metadata deposit as a Crossref member and Sponsor since 2015. Editions published without DOIs still give each paper a permanent, citable page in the repository.
